Both a traditional full facelift and a mini facelift performed by Dr. Pedy Ganchi in New Jersey can give you amazing results. The technique that is right for you depends on the extent of your signs of facial aging as well as your personal expectations.
Dr. Ganchi is an ideal choice for your mini facelift procedure. She is a renowned board-certified plastic surgeon with years of skill and experience. Dr. Ganchi specializes in cosmetic plastic surgery of the face, as well as the body and breasts. This specialization has allowed her to develop a precise and in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy.
The Benefits of a Mini Facelift
As the name suggests, a mini facelift is a modified version of a conventional facelift. It requires shorter incisions, making it less invasive. It is designed to restore the cheeks, jawline and upper neck, softening the appearance of folds and wrinkles. As such, it is more suitable for younger individuals and allows for a somewhat shorter recovery process. Results will be subtle instead of dramatic.
Dr. Ganchi can also perform the mini facelift in combination with other facial procedures such as the brow lift for even more comprehensive results. The brow lift is an ideal complementary procedure, since it focuses entirely on the upper third of the face.
Ideal Candidates
A mini facelift from Dr. Ganchi is recommended for people who have mild signs of jowling. It is ideal for those who want to immediately address the budding signs of aging, such as sagging cheeks, mild skin laxity, and a jawline that has lost a smaller degree of definition.
A mini facelift is not ideal for those with too much loose skin around the jawline or neck. Additionally, it is not recommended for people who want to address crow’s feet, eye bags, or wrinkles on the forehead.
Your Consultation
Before the surgery, Dr. Ganchi will discuss your expected goals and outcomes with you. She will show you before-and-after images to give you a better idea of your potential results.
Dr. Ganchi will discuss your complete medical history with you, including any allergies or past procedures. You will be required to stop smoking for a month before surgery and for the entirety of the recovery process. You must also stop taking blood thinners and herbal supplements a couple of weeks before surgery since they can lead to bleeding complications.
Surgery Details
In a mini facelift, local anesthesia with sedation is administered. Dr. Ganchi makes incisions at the hairline near the ears and extends partly behind the ear. The incisions are more limited compared with those made for the traditional facelift.
She will then carefully lift the SMAS layer and tighten its position. The SMAS, or superficial muscular aponeurotic system, is a layer of tissue that is located deep within the skin and above the facial muscles. The SMAS is one of the main support structures of the face and can be deftly manipulated to restore and lift the cheeks and jawline.
Incisions are repaired with sutures. A bandage may be applied to the region. Drains may be placed to avoid hematomas and seromas.
The Recovery Process
Most patients are able to move about freely right after the mini facelift procedure. There may be some minor swelling and pain in the incision areas, but these are short-lived and are nothing to be concerned about. Mild bruising is expected and will gradually resolve over the week.
People can return to work a couple of weeks after the surgery but shouldn’t undertake any strenuous activities for 3-4 weeks. Patients should refrain from straining or bending, as these can cause bleeding under the skin. Healing may be hampered if patients use steam and sauna facilities too soon or if they drink alcohol.
Patients will need to return for a follow-up appointment with Dr. Ganchi. During this follow-up, she will remove sutures as needed and will check on the status of the recovery process. This will include evaluating incision healing and ensuring that the patient is not experiencing any complications.
Once healing is complete, you will be able to see the full, long-lasting results of the mini facelift. Generally, an expertly crafted facelift can turn back the clock and last about 10 years.
Mini Facelift Cost
The fees for a mini facelift is determined by a number of factors. The time required to perform the surgery, the accessory procedures like fat grafting or eyelid tuck, and the type of anesthesia administered all play a role in mini facelift cost.
Typically, a mini facelift costs anywhere from $8,000 to $12,000. In certain cases, fat grafting can be included in the procedure, which affects the overall price. Facility fees also help to determine the final price.
